So in my never ending quest to be unique I was trying to think of a color scheme for the Civic, and I thought that it's 'Pearl Black' now, and I'd kind of like to keep that color because it's nice, but the black steelies don't go that well with them, so I'm thinking of powdercoating the wheels white. When I searched 'white steelies on black car' the first result was...

Kinja'd!!!

A 2 door matte black version of the civic. That's spooky close. What do you guys think? Do the white stock steelies add a bit of something to the car, or should I keep my eyes out and wallet open for some new wheels that probably cost more than the car does?

And I just realized the civic in that picture is lowered. That is a reasonable amount of low. I like it.

I'd keep them black just because they'll be hard to keep clean and end up looking stupid.

If your matte black looks like that I'd say black and white looks a little too "I don't give a shit what this looks like" and not enough "I don't give a shit how ridiculous(ly awesome) this looks." I'd say keep an eye out for something different or plastidip in the crazy color of your choice.

What's the bolt pattern on the Civic?

Nah, my car is factory gloss black, I'm just thinking of painting the wheels how they are in that picture (and probably lowering a similar amount as well).

Whoever painted that car needs to git gud.

That's a fair point, but at the same time since they don't really have spokes there isn't going to be much brake dust on them, and I've seen cars riding around with white wheels before and I rather like the look.

Ahhh if it's gloss black then I am pro–white steelie.

Head to the junkyard and get some Miata wheels for less than $100. Summer rubber in that size is like $250 for all 4 as well.

I like black wheels if you have white letter tires, it like mad max if the car is also black

I like the look as well. But a few chips later and they'll look like some cheap bro painted them in like 5 minutes.

Since you asked for it: Only two cars look good with white steelies...

I like white steelies, expect them to look pretty beat up within a few months or be forever touching them up/ cleaning them. You'll probably need to scrub the steelies with something like a wire wheel so you're not painting over rust.

Come now: there's at least three. Four, if you count the pre-and-post-facelift versions as separate cars.

The black paint is actually intact and not rusted, but I'll be sanding it down to metal to powdercoat it. Powder coating is supposed to be pretty durable so it *shouldn't* get all flaky and nasty, but I will probably hold off for not.

Isnt a powdercoated finish supposed to be super durable?

Yes, that one as well... Just wanted to make a point ;-)

And don't go pre-post-facelift because the 2nd gen 106 doesn't look nearly as good as it's 1st gen brother did!

Should be pretty reasonable then. Most people use wheel paint which flakes and all steelies here are rusted because UK so I just assumed yours would be.

You should be proud as it is awesome! But, again, the clean, straight forward looks of that 1st gen looks better. I would never say and never did say it's ugly ;-)

I sure hope it's a rallye though...

Well, at least it's the last proper Peugeot weighing not that much it's a pleasure driving anyway. But you should upgrade to that Rallye anyway ;-)

I'd repaint them gloss black, because... Cheap. Also white spray paint shows messups easier.
